Global warming is depends on energy balance between incoming and outgoing radiation through emissions of greenhouse gases effect. The greenhouse gases are such like carbon dioxide, methane, chlorofluorocarbons (CFC), nitrous oxide and other chemical gases. The atmosphere absorbs or reflects about half of the solar energy reaching the earth. Most of the energy re emitted from the earth's surface is long wave of infrared energy. Most of this infrared energy is absorbed by aerosols and greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and is re-radiated toward the planet. Hence it is help the earth keeping the surface much warmer than it would otherwise be. Which is also known by greenhouses effect.
